Real Experience

FIRST Robotics (which means “For Inspiration and Recognition in Science, Technology”) is a non-profit organization dedicated to creating learning opportunities and fostering students’ interest in science and technology through various events and competitions.

DENSO International America, Inc. (DIAM) has supported the FIRST approach to hands-on learning for over a decade as part of its STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) initiative to encourage and help students learn technical subjects – like engineering.

Stuff-A-Bus

Did you know the average family spends about $80 per child on back-to-school supplies? That doesn’t include clothes, haircuts, physicals and all the other things students need to be ready for the school year. So, when DENSO International America (DIAM) heard about a local school district with more than 60 percent of families in need, they decided to help. For two weeks, DIAM employees collected school supplies. And on Aug. 17, they stuffed a bus with nearly 5,000 donated supplies, from backpacks and binders to calculators and colored pencils, for Southfield Public Schools.
