For the Love of Science and Technology

The FIRST Robotics program, which means “For Inspiration and Recognition in Science, Technology,” aims to inspire students to become engineers by giving them experience working with professional engineers and technicians.

Employees from DENSO International America, Inc. (DIAM) volunteer as mentors to help students learn and prepare for higher education in technology and engineering, while building a robot to compete.

Safety test

Members of Oakland County’s Hazardous Materials Response Team rescue a dummy victim following a mock tanker spill outside of the Technical Center at DENSO International America (DIAM) in Southfield, Mich. To ensure employee safety, DIAM’s internal safety policies are often put the test. Here, its Emergency Response Team handled the disaster drill by calling the local fire department and haz-mat crew to assist on the scene. A debriefing followed with participating agencies to discuss lessons learned and areas for improvement.
