Rouge Rescue

Every year, hundreds of DENSO volunteers help with Rouge Rescue cleanup efforts, helping to restore the natural habitat surrounding the DENSO International America, Inc. (DIAM) campus in Southfield, Mich.

Part of the group’s efforts is to remove invasive plant species that bully our local plants. At each event, the group pulls more than 4,000 pounds of garlic mustard. To build excitement for this activity, a Garlic Mustard Cook-off Competition is held where employees compete for title of DIAM Top Chef, using garlic mustard as their secret ingredient.

Promoting Recycling

The plastic case on this HVAC (heating, ventilating and air conditioning) unit, made at our DENSO manufacturing facilities in Canada and Michigan, is molded with 20 percent in-house recycled material. A titanium-based process provides corrosion resistance for the evaporator rather than hexavalent chromium, an environmentally hazardous substance. Lead solder was eliminated from processing operations by a raw material switch from copper to aluminum.
